BASIC FUNCTION:


┬ 


The shop mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repairs to fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.┬ 


┬ 


ORGANZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:


┬ 


This position will report to the Shop Manager.┬  This position will interact with shop employees, paving crew members, construction members, and vehicle drivers.


┬ 


SPECIFIC REPONSIBILITIES:


┬ 


Perform light service on vehicles and equipment such as preventative and predictive maintenance.


┬ 


Perform mild to medium repair of vehicles and equipment by trouble shooting malfunctions and determining repairs needed.


┬ 


Perform heavy repair of vehicles and equipment by troubleshooting shooting malfunctions and determining repairs needed.


┬ 


Complete maintenance and repair logs.


┬ 


Communicate with shop employees, paving crew members, construction crew members, foreman, general superintendents, foreman, shop manager, and others as needed.


┬ 


Maintain and secure work tools.


┬ 


Clean and maintain work area.


┬ 


Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.


┬ 


Report to field to perform mechanic duties, as needed.


┬ 


Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


┬

Education and/or Experience:


The Shop Mechanic will have graduated from a standard vocational or high school and some experience at the journeyman level in the repair of heavy construction equipment and fleet vehicles and/or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Reasoning Abilities:


Must be able to employ independent judgment and resourcefulness in performing mechanical repair work and understand and communicate repair needs and outcome.


┬ 


Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required.┬ 


┬ 


Must possess a valid driver's license and a driving record in compliance with the company's Motor Vehicle Policy.


┬ 


Working Conditions:


Most of the Shop Mechanic work will be performed within a heated building, on a concrete floor.┬  The Shop Mechanic may have the opportunity to do some of the work at job sites.┬  The Shop mechanic is on their feet most of the day performing lifting operations, performing tasks while using hand tools, pneumatic tools, lifts, carts, welding equipment, ladders, and other tools/machinery as needed.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
